Mamma Mia is a classic feel-good movie that makes you want to sing and dance. It’s wedding-themed story makes it perfect for a bachelorette party. - Party Favors
- Food and Drink
I hope this post helps you plan the best Mamma Mia Party.
Decor
The decor for your Mamma Mia bachelorette party is one of the most important parts! Also, the most fun in my opinion. Since the movie takes place in Greece and is filled with incredible disco music by ABBA, think Mediterranean and disco vibes… Use pinks and blues to represent the beautiful blue ocean and pink bougainvillea flowers that encompass Greece. Use disco balls and sparkly accents to represent the disco era! I found most of my decor on Amazon; however, the party store, Etsy, and dollar store also had some great options. Below, I’ve linked some of the decorations I purchased from Amazon that I think you will like too!
DISCO BALL– Of course, you need a disco ball if you’re throwing a disco party! I found this one on Amazon.
FLOWERS– Fresh flowers are nice, but this flower garland from Amazon is a perfect way to recreate the pink bougainvilleas found throughout Greece.
BALLOON ARCH– Balloon arches are an easy way to make your decor look professional. This balloon arch from Amazon was so easy to set up!
PRINTABLES– Find print-outs online of the beautiful Mediterranean coastline. Hang them up on the walls to make it feel like you’re actually there. Amazon sells some beautiful tapestries of Greece that would also be cool to hang. I think they even sell some Mamma Mia movie tapestries too! Here is the link!
Photo Booth
Did you even have a Mamma Mia-themed bachelorette party if you didn’t take photos? Of course, you need lots of picts to remember the weekend. Creating an area specifically for a good photo opt is easy and fun. Pick a wall that has plenty of room for everyone to stand, hang a sheet or some streamers for a backdrop, throw up a cute bachelorette sign, and gather some props to stike a pose.
BACKDROP– I loved these fringe streamers and this glitter garland I used for my photo booth backdrop!
BACHELORETTE PARTY SIGN– Use your bachelorette party slogan and create a sign for the backdrop. I used my Cricut to create this “Mamma Mia She’s Getting Married” sign. You could also just purchase some balloons that say “bride” or other bachelorette saying. This “bride” balloon is super cute and easy to assemble!
PROPS– Have everyone bring their best 70s disco-era outfits to represent the iconic music of ABBA. Think sequins and sparkles, bold floral patterns, bell-bottom pants, and crop tops! And don’t forget the go-go boots and heart-shaped sunnies. Grab some feather boas and microphones and get ready to perform like Donna and the Dynamos at Sophie’s Bachelorette singing Souper Trouper.
ActivitieS
Although the location of your bachelorette party will determine what you do for fun, here are some general activities that you can do most anywhere!
- Watch the MAMMA MIA MOVIE! Obviously…
- Have a DANCE PARTY at home under the disco ball.
- Dress up in your MAMMA MIA OUTFITS and hit the town for a night out.
- Go to BRUNCH! Find a place that does bottomless mimosas for a boozy brunch or keep it classy at HIGH TEA.
- Play some fun BACHELORETTE PARTY GAMES! One of my personal favorites is the lingerie game! Everyone attending brings the bride a piece of lingerie wrapped in a gift bag. The bride then opens them up one by one and tries to guess who gave her what. You can bring all kinds of lingerie, funny, cute, flirty, etc. It’s fun to see the bride’s reaction and lucky for her, she now has a complete collection! Other games such as the newlywed game and who knows the bachelorette best, although cheesy, are fun too. Here are a bunch of printable Mamma Mia-themed party games I found on Etsy!
- PAMPER yourselves! See if you can find a local salon that you can do manis and pedis at.
- Take a COOKING OR COCKTAIL MAKING CLASS.
- Book a PARTY BIKE to ride your way through the city.
- Look to see if there are any fancy hotels in the area that offer POOL PARTY PASSES. Many luxury hotels will sell daily pool passes where you can rent a cabana for the day. Laying by the pool in the sun, drinking a cocktail, while the DJ plays your favorite songs is always a crowd pleaser! Use the website Resortpass.com to find hotels that offer this experience.
- Find a KARAOKE bar so you can belt out all your favorite Mamma Mia songs.
- Go WINE TASTING.
- Take a GROUP EXERCISE CLASS like yoga or pilates to get everyone moving.
Party Favors
Who doesn’t love a good party favor? Wasn’t this the best part of going to a birthday party as a child haha Maybe that was just me. Think of some things your bachelorette party crew might need to get through the weekend and go from there.
I like to start with some sort of base that can be filled with small items such as a basket or tote bag. Since we were going to the beach I found these adorable jelly bags from the shop A Little Confetti. They are perfect for the beach, because they are easy to clean and the sand falls right through the holes.
Inside the bags, I placed several items including matching bachelorette shirts. When walking around town everyone needs to know that you are THE bachelorette crew! I found these cute t-shirts on Etsy that say “Bride” and “Bride’s Babes” in the same font as the Mamma Mia movie cover. We loved them! There are a lot of other cute shirt ideas I saw on Etsy too! I especially liked one for the bride that said: “Mamma Mia I’m getting married”!
I found these pretty personalized tumblers on Etsy. They were perfect for keeping everyone hydrated!
I got everyone matching sunnies, because they make for the cutest photos. I loved these flower power sunglasses from Amazon. I think they went with the disco theme perfectly! And we did in fact get several compliments from people while wearing them on the beach.
Lastly, I added some smaller items I thought would be useful for the girls such as a hair scrunchie and your typical “bachelorette recovery kit” items including hydration packs, gum, mints, chapstick, and some Tylenol.
Here are some other bachelorette party favor items you could add as well:
- Koozies
- Personalized cups
- Matching totes
- Face masks
- Matching caps or straw hats
- Flip flops
- Temporary tattoos
- Turkish towels
- Matching PJs
- Snacks
- Fanny packs
Food and Drink
Don’t forget about all the fun food and drinks you can make to fit the theme! If you want to stick with the Mediterranean vibes here are some suggestions!
- Make your own personalized pizzas from home.
- Order out some yummy Mediterranean cuisine from CAVA and eat it while watching Mamma Mia.
- Put together a fun charcuterie board and have a sunset picnic.
I found these disco ball cups from Etsy and thought they would be perfect to represent the disco vibes. They were so fun to drink out of. I personalized one for the bride and it turned out so cute! I also found some beautiful blue wine glasses at the dollar store that matched the Mamma Mia aesthetic.
And you can’t forget about dessert! Set up a fun candy bar with blue and pink candies. Make an interesting Greek dessert like Baklava. Or stick to classics by making some wedding-themed cut-out cookies or cupcakes with a cute bride-to-be topper. If you live in the DC/Northern VA area I would highly recommend purchasing your sweets from Sweet Surprise Bake Shop! They made these adorable bride-to-be cupcakes. So yummy!
I hope this post has helped you plan your Mamma Mia Bachelorette Party! There are so many fun things you can do with this theme. Your guest will surely have a blast.

This is amazing!! Given me so many fabulous ideas. Where is the bunting from on the back drop? Can’t find it anywhere!

Thank you! The blue fringe and circle garlands are from Amazon. The Mamma Mia She’s Getting married sign/bunting I made myself from card stock. I bought two patterns of card stock at the craft store and just cut them into squares, punched a hole on the tops, and strung them on a string. Hope you have a fun Mamma Mia Party!
