Learn how to make this beautiful citrus flower arrangement. It’s the perfect centerpiece for your home this spring and summer!
I think most would agree that a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers really does brighten up a home. Something about fresh flowers is so sweet and cheery. With the warmer weather approaching, I knew I wanted to make a summer-inspired flower arrangement for my home! However, I wanted to do more than just stick some flowers in a vase, which is why I attempted this unique citrus flower arrangement. Adding the ruby red grapefruit really elevated it. It turned out so beautiful, I had to share. Anyone can make this flower arrangement at home themselves, so I outlined exactly how to do so below!
Of course, I went to Trader Joe’s to pick out some flowers… I wanted some simple and dainty flowers so I chose chamomile and baby’s breath. Choose whatever flowers your heart desires. You can also switch up the citrus by using lemons, oranges, or lime rather than grapefruit. I love how the color of the grapefruit complimented the flowers I bought. Kind of reminds me of drinking a Paloma on a beautiful summer’s day.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bunch of Flowers
- Red grapefruit (quantity of grapefruit will depend on the size of your vase, I used 4)
- Scizzors
- 2 Vases (one large vase and one smaller vase to fit inside the larger vase)
- Water
LET’S BEGIN
First, you will need to find two vases. The smaller vase will hold your flowers, and will need to be small enough to fit inside the other vase. There will need to be enough room in between the vases for the grapefruit to be placed.
Next, you’ll want to trim the stems of your flowers so that they are the perfect height for your vase. Make sure when trimming the stems you cut at a diagonal. This increases the surface area available for the stems to soak up water.
Fill both vases with water about halfway up. Now slice your grapefruit, and individually place them in the larger vase, surrounding the smaller vase.
Once you’ve reached the top of your water line fill the larger vase with more water, and continue adding your grapefruit slices until you reach the top. Make sure the grapefruit is completely submerged in water to ensure the grapefruit doesn’t go moldy.
Lastly, add your bunch of flowers to the smaller vase, and voila a beautiful citrus flower arrangement! Now find the perfect place to display your beautiful work of art!
